Menzies Distribution are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our team at our Planning Centre in Normanton, Wakefield. You will be responsible for arranging the delivery of the customer's product on time and in full using the most cost-effective means possible and best use of available resources, whilst complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety. Maximizing the utilization of the Menzies Fleet through efficient planning of deliveries and collections as well as maximized utilization of Menzies drivers in line with current driver's hours and WTD legislation.
*** Please note we are ideally looking for somebody with experience specifically in a previous Planning Role. We plan solely Class 1 vehicles and are a busy general haulage 3PL company***
The Details- Working Week:
Monday to Friday - Start & Finish Times:
Between 07:00 & 09:00 - 16:00 & 18:00 - Monthly Pay
- We plan Day 1 for Day 2, up to Day 1 for Day 5
- Work is continuously updated throughout the day up until late afternoon for next day deliveries so the plan often needs amending up until the last minute
- The sectors our customers work in are Beverage can, pkg, Palletts, Ambient Food etc.
- We're a very busy, fast paced operation and are looking for people to join us who are wanting to challenge themselves and progress in their career.
- Plan all relevant customer deliveries utilizing the software available at site to ensure delivery windows are met
- Liaise with the Driver in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery
- Liaise with the Customer in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery
- Develop back haul lanes with both Menzies depots and 3rd party customers whilst maintaining fleet utilization
- Source local agency drivers as and when required (in conjunction with our PSL) providing an accurate brief of job required
- Source sub contractors as and when required. Complete a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines
- Ensure loads meet safety standards
- Manage the Drivers ensuring start times are adhered to Pre-Brief Drivers to ensure that they fully understand their instructions
- De-Brief Drivers upon their return to ensure that all documentation has been completed correctly
- Manage WTD Compliance Download Driver cards for analysis
- Comply with all Transport legislation reducing tachograph infringements to below the company target and adhering to WTD regulations
- Conduct regular meetings/ reviews including probation assessments and return to work interviews
- Ensure compliance with Agency Driver checklist
- Communicate routes to and liaise with other Menzies Depots Record trailer information on all inbound/outbound deliveries and stand trailers
- Administration of run shifts (file/ update globally)
- Fully understand agreed KPI's for Department All other transport office related duties
Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience of working in a busy Transport office Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement
- Good standard of education
- IT literate Knowledge of Health & Safety Commercial understanding Knowledge of transport systems.
