Senior Engineer I – Civil Design / Land Development

Location:

Waldorf, MD – Work in our Waldorf office in a team environment with a focus on civil engineering construction documents.

The Senior Engineer prepares site civil engineering construction documents and performs related design and drafting tasks under the supervision of the assigned Project Manager. Key activities include:

• Prep land development construction drawings/documents based on client goals, covering roadway design, utility design, and site design.
• Assist with zoning, preliminary, and concept land development plans.
• Perform site grading design and drafting, ensuring value engineering through earthwork analysis and safety through proper design slopes and drainage.
• Design and draft soil erosion & sediment control, including stability calculations, best management practices, swale design, spillway design, and construction sequencing.
• Calculate quantities for construction cost estimates.
• Research and interpret required standards/codes and collaborate with PM, PE, and other personnel to develop compliant designs.
• Process design plan documents through local, state, and federal approving agencies.

The Civil Engineer reports directly to the Project Manager and may receive direction from the Assistant Project Manager or other management staff.

• Experience with Micro Station and/or AutoCAD drafting.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self‑motivated and detail oriented.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in civil/site land planning and engineering.
• Experience in Maryland and/or Southern Maryland preferred but not required.
