Position Overview
Registered Nurses (RN) at Recovery Centers of America render professional nursing care to patients with behavioral healthcare needs. The RN performs total patient care assigned, including administering prescribed medications. The RN works with clinical and case management staff to coordinate care and assist with treatment plans. Maintains patients’ medical records on nursing observations. May assist physicians during treatment and examination of patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
- Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
- Make nursing diagnoses and recommend treatment options.
- Consult with medical, clinical, and other behavioral healthcare staff in designing treatment plans.
- Administer and note reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
- Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
- Assist clients in understanding the nature of mental health disorders and the need for treatment.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
- Document all patient information in medical charts and follow physician orders.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active registered nursing license in the state where care is delivered.
- Current BLS certification preferred.
- 2 years of experience in behavioral healthcare or five years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of health care, detoxification process, addiction, co-occurring disorders and DSM criteria preferred.
- Proficiency in screening/assessing for suicide ideation and aggression.
- Ability to safely administer medications.
This job operates in a professional environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level is usually moderate. Registered nurses are expected to remain prepared for long hours and may work on weekends, holidays and nights.
Physical DemandsHeavy lifting up to 50 lbs intermittent; carrying up to 45 lbs intermittent; repeated bending; straight pulling up to 45 lbs intermittent; stooping intermittent; squatting intermittent; kneeling occasionally; use of both arms and hands; overhead work; prolonged walking up to 4 hours/day; prolonged standing up to 4 hours/day; sitting up to 2 hours/day. CPR validation required.
TravelTravel is primarily local during the business day, with occasional out-of-area or overnight travel.
