Accounting Assistant

Compensation: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour

A well-established service and construction-focused company in Waldwick, NJ is seeking an Accounts Payable / Accounting Clerk to join its accounting team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on accounting position with a strong AP focus and the opportunity to work closely with Purchasing and Project Management. Experience in a construction, service, contracting, or project-based environment is a plus.

• Process and accurately enter invoices into the company's accounting system
• Review invoices against parts orders and work with Purchasing and Project Managers to ensure invoices match materials received
• Assist with vendor payments for job-related and general company expenses
• Maintain and update vendor information
• Enter payroll hours, job numbers and cost codes
• Partner with Purchasing and Project Management to resolve invoice and accounting questions
• Provide support with Accounts Receivable and collection calls as needed
• Reconcile credit card payments and enter expense reports
• Scan, organize and electronically file accounting documents
• Generate reports and assist with general accounting and administrative tasks
• Work as part of a team to provide backup and cross-training within the accounting department
• Perform other general accounting duties as needed

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college-level accounting or bookkeeping coursework is a plus
• Previous Accounts Payable or general accounting experience
• Experience working with invoices, vendors and purchase orders
• Construction, service, contracting or project-related accounting experience is helpful
• Familiarity with an accounting or ERP system;
  Spectrum by Viewpoint experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  
  Good communication and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Purchasing, Project Management and other departments

Advanced Excel skills are not required
. Candidates should be comfortable with basic functions, including:

• Adding and subtracting
• Inserting rows and columns
• Sorting and filtering data

No pivot tables, VLOOKUPs or advanced formulas required.
