Base pay range: $17.00/hr – $20.50/hr.

Walgreens Pharmacy Technician positions have evolved from a transaction‑based environment to a patient‑centric one. As a Pharmacy Technician or Apprenticeship candidate, you will serve customers and develop strong patient relationships using the latest technology and support tools.

Walgreens offers an “earn‑while‑you‑learn” Pharmacy Technician Training Program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor, guiding you toward Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and the high skill level required in the industry.

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in performing Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; if PTCB certified, coach pharmacy technicians on system and cash register use.
• Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

• Engage customers and patients, greet them, and offer assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with all team members.
• Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.

• Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, verify medication correctness, check for interactions, and maintain workflow.
• Report prescription errors promptly and adhere to company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Adhere to Walgreen Company policy on good faith dispensing.
• Register sales, handle cash, and assist with OTC aisle product location.
• Handle telephone calls requiring pharmacist attention and process manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently.
• Support inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, storing, and filing claims for overages or shortages.
• Assist in administering clinical services, coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Maintain good relationships with local medical community through outreach.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful coworker relationships.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or required state certification.
• Attend manager‑requested training and acquire continuing education credits; stay updated on healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
