Key Responsibilities- Fabricate, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Operate a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to produce precise components.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and optical comparators.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing tooling to improve manufacturing processes.
- Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool construction and repair.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool design and functionality.
- Proven experience in tool and die making, mold making, or precision machining.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Skilled in operating a variety of conventional and CNC machine tools (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, various tool steels, and heat treatment processes.
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, CMM).
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or an equivalent technical degree/certification.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Solid Works, Mastercam).
- Experience operating and programming CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.
- Specialized experience with advanced machining processes such as EDM or Wire EDM.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Previous experience mentoring or training junior machinists/toolmakers.
