Visiting Assistant Professor of Art; Printmaking​/Book Arts

Position Overview

Whitman College Department of Art is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Printmaking/Book Arts to begin August 2026. Candidates must hold an MFA by the time of appointment and will carry a standard annual teaching load of five undergraduate courses.

• Teach a full roster of Printmaking courses (Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced).
• Contribute to our Foundations program with a thematically‑driven beginner course.
• Assume teaching responsibility for senior capstone courses in rotation with all art faculty.
• Maintain a personal studio and office adjacent to the Printmaking studio; supervise student work and studio operations.

• MFA with demonstrated expertise in Printmaking/Book Arts.
• College‑level teaching experience; active exhibition and presentation record.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary theory and practice with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and community engagement.
