Washington State Parks and Recreation – Environmental Engineer 2 – Wenatchee, WA. This posting is open until filled with a first review date of Jan 12. This role provides professional environmental engineering services under the general guidance of a registered professional engineer.
It requires cooperative work in a multi‑discipline team and the ability to provide independent, professional‑level recommendations concerning all aspects of engineering design, permitting and construction.
- Provide independent, professional‑level recommendations concerning all aspects of engineering design, permitting, and construction under the general guidance of a licensed professional engineer.
- Prepare engineering reports, studies, contract drawings, technical specifications and cost estimates for capital development projects, including:
- Design of buildings, retaining walls, and miscellaneous park structures.
- Analysis/design of surface‑water drainage and treatment features in accordance with county and state storm‑water regulations and design manuals.
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of watersheds and sizing of drainage features.
- Analysis and design of small and large on‑site sewage systems.
- Analysis and design of sewer systems and pumping stations.
- Analysis and design of potable water systems, wells, treatment facilities and reservoirs.
- Design of roadways, parking lots and trails.
- Act as Field Engineer/Project Manager performing construction site inspections, making recommendations and/or design field‑engineered revisions, negotiating change orders, preparing contract payments, close‑out documentation and handling first‑level contract disputes and claims.
- Travel to conduct field investigations as required.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a major study in sanitary, civil, geotechnical, water resource, environmental or a closely related field. Relipant work experience may substitute for each year of schooling up to 4 years.
- Two (2) years of civil/environmental engineering experience.
- Valid unrestricted (except for corrective lenses) driver’s license.

The position will work M‑TH 6:30 am to 5 pm. The work is typically 70 % office and 30 % traveling or visiting the work sites; some overnight travel may be required depending on park locations. Field work may include rough terrain and enclosed spaces.
