Location:

Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, Connell, WA

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 0600 – 1430

Shift Differentials
  • $2.50 per hour for evening and night shift work
  • $1.00 per hour for work from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • $3.00 per hour for hours worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight
Facility Overview
  • Extended Observations unit – up to 96‑hour stay (4 beds)
  • Long‑term palliative care unit
  • Capacity to see up to 2,500 patients with various chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, cancer, autoimmune disorders, etc.)

Duties

Practice nursing safely and effectively in the correctional setting and within the scope of practice defined by state law and administrative code so that patient care provided is safe, effective, efficient, and clinically appropriate.

  • Monitor and collect specific data on individuals, families, groups, and communities by interview, observation, inspection, and examination; report results to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in developing nursing diagnoses and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of the plan of nursing care, including identification of approaches, time frames, and pathways.
  • Carry out the plan of care by performing common therapeutic nursing interventions and determine when needs for care exceed the LPN scope of practice.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in analysis, evaluation, and revision of the plan of care as needed.
  • Employ appropriate safety techniques in physical tasks.
Effective Communication and Documentation
  • Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and via electronic media with offenders, families, other health care personnel, custody, and institutional personnel.
  • Legibly document subjective and objective clinical findings and actions taken.
  • Protect confidentiality of health records.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and complete records of patient care.
  • Coordinate information to health care providers for patients scheduled for community-based care.
Delegation and Supervision
  • Supervise and assign tasks to subordinate staff on the nursing team.
  • Delegate patient care responsibilities to other Licensed Practical Nurses and assistive personnel after evaluating needs and potential for harm.
  • Teach, instruct, and supervise the implementation of tasks and evaluate results.
  • Report delegated nursing task outcomes to the Registered Nurse or supervising provider.
Self‑Evaluation and Professional Conduct
  • Be in attendance, capable, and competent to practice nursing as assigned.
  • Brief appropriate personnel on pertinent information before departing from duty to ensure continuity of patient care.
Qualifications Required
  • Unencumbered licensure in Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Or unencumbered Multistate Compact License with completion of the MLS demographic survey.
  • Two years’ experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Training by the American Heart Association in Healthcare Provider CPR.
  • Proficiency with computer‑based programs for scheduling, monitoring, data entry, word processing, and email.
Preferred
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting or a correctional facility.
