DSHS Lake Burien Director of Nursing – Registered Nurse 4
We are seeking a dedicated Director of Nursing (RN4) to join our team at Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility in Burien, WA.
This facility has 12 beds and 108 full‑time employees with potential growth to 24 beds and over 196 full‑time employees. It has been designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space. This new therapeutic facility serves youth, age 13 and older, who have co‑occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities with complex needs such as behavioral health issues or substance use disorders.
Responsibilities- Planning, organizing, directing, supervising and evaluating all nursing services provided to youth served
- Managing, planning, leading and organizing facility nursing services, including individualized levels of nursing care to youth
- Ensuring compliance and training needs through programs, such as utilization review, quality assurance, infection control and medication error review
- Collaborating with medical staff and representatives of other disciplines, planning for needs and improvements of nursing and health care programs and their evaluation/ongoing compliance
- Ensuring the nursing needs of facility and transitioning youth are met
- Other duties as assigned
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively supervise nursing staff, provide direction, and deliver timely feedback
- Unencumbered Registered Nurse License for the State of Washington
- Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations related to professional nursing in long‑term care and facility operations
- Demonstrate good judgment in supporting clients in crises by emphasizing the helping relationship using program approved methods
- Successful completion of Therapeutic Options training as required and demonstrate competency in all aspects of Therapeutic Options in daily work assignments
- Maintain certification in CPR, First Aid and AED
- Must comply with health testing and assessments and any other employee health requirements established by law or accreditation bodies with Employee Health on Health on employment and annually thereafter
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing AND
- At least four years of professional nursing experience, including two years in a lead or supervisory role
Notes: A Bachelor’s degree or higher involving major study in nursing may substitute for two years of nonsupervisory nursing experience. One year of full‑time nursing teaching experience may substitute for one year of supervisory experience.
Additional Information- Work schedule:
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday - Opportunities performed on‑site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary
- King County employees receive a 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use
