Job OverviewTemporary Washington State Park Aide positions located throughout the Coulee Corridor Area – Potholes, Steamboat Rock and Sun Lakes State Parks. Positions begin between March and June, typically lasting 3–5 months. Employees work 40 hours per week; part‑time schedules may be negotiated. Physical presence in the park is required; telework is not permitted.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain park facilities through routine maintenance and janitorial services.
- Perform grounds maintenance: cutting grass, weeding flower beds, pruning shrubs, raking leaves, and picking up litter.
- Maintain park lawns using a mower, weed eater, trimmer, and other maintenance tools.
- Provide information to visitors and answer phone calls.
- Register campers and collect, sort, and count revenue; prepare bank transmittals and deposits.
- Perform daily garbage collection and litter control.
- Clean restrooms and stock cleaning supplies.
- Clean rental properties and perform general housekeeping duties, including washing windows, scrubbing floors, mopping, and sweeping.
- Drive light trucks or other state vehicles to transport supplies and equipment within the park area; haul garbage.
- Window‑clean rental equipment for a weekend (if applicable).
- Minimum age of 17 years.
- Valid, unrestricted driver's license (out‑of‑state licenses must be shown at interview).
- Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather; minor injuries or conditions must be disclosed.
- Ability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
- Spanish language skills (preferred).
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and small equipment.
- Experience in general maintenance, janitorial services, and working with chemicals.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
- Capability to work in a team and manage multiple projects with organization and timely completion.
- Knowledge of park rules, local history, and the ability to educate visitors.
All non‑permanent Aides must wear a uniform: 2 shirts, 1 baseball cap, and a $75.00 clothing stipend per calendar year (some positions receive $150). Furniture is not provided at bunk housing. Bunk housing is available at Northrup Point House of Steamboat Rock State Park, with two separate rooms and shared facilities (garage, living area, kitchen, bathroom). RV parking is available on a first‑come, first‑served basis;

Temporary positions are eligible for vacation and sick leave; holiday pay may be available depending on schedule. Full‑time benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement are not applicable to temporary staff.
