General PurposeThe Retail Associate ensures customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers with eye contact, a smile, and courteous greeting, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. They are engaged in all assigned tasks during working hours and may be requested to perform additional tasks as needed to achieve customer service and operational goals.
EssentialFunctions
- Safety is the number one priority and is practiced consistently.
- Maintain high awareness on the sales floor, keep egress clear, and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet all customers with eye contact, smiles, and a friendly hello.
- Assist customers at the register, answer questions politely and knowledgeably, and thank customers after each transaction.
- Handle customer service calls promptly and resolve issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when necessary.
- Support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas).
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code.
- Execute daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and efficiently merchandised.
- Expedite newly received merchandise: bring goods to the sales floor quickly and merchandise them per company best practice and monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position, and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise.
- Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, proper processing of MOS merchandise, and notification of Store Leadership for disposals.
- Handle cash, check, charge card, refund transactions, voids, and offline procedures accurately.

- Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations common in retail environments.
- Use all store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC).
- Stand, walk, and move around the store full time.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and related supplies.
- Assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shift associates may need to push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
