DescriptionCorrectional Officer 1 (CO2) positions are available at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC) in Clallam Bay, WA, and the Olympic Corrections Center (OCC) in Forks, WA. Full‑time and on‑call positions are offered. Qualified candidates will be invited to virtual interviews on January 8, 13, 15, 22, and 29. Successful applicants will attend the earliest Training Academy available.
About the Facilities- Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC) – 900 bed male facility located on the Olympic Peninsula; medium and close custody offenders, Intensive Management Unit. Custody levels:
Medium Close, & Maximum. - Olympic Corrections Center (OCC) – 381 bed male facility near the Hoh Rainforest; minimum security offenders with treatment, work, and vocational programs. Custody level:
Minimum.

Salary Information- Full‑time: $6,046 – $6,512 (CO1) ; $6,200 – $7,013 (CO2)
- On‑call/Hourly: $34.75 – $37.43 (CO1) ; $35.63 – $40.30 (CO2)
On‑call staff may work 32‑40 hours per week with no guaranteed minimum. All staff attend six weeks of paid training and are considered for full‑time vacancies. Duties- Provide safety and security, control, direct, and monitor activities of inmates.
- Maintain institution security and control inmate movement per department procedures.
- Serve as a positive role model, using interpersonal and communication skills to counteract criminal thinking and support successful reintegration.
- Perform all duties in a physically and mentally demanding environment; overtime is essential.
- Complete six‑week Correctional Worker Core (CWC) academy and ongoing on‑the‑job training.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Constitutional right to carry a firearm.
- Pre‑employment drug testing and psychological evaluation required.
- Background check included; results may be considered for suitability.
- Drug‑free environment with mandatory pre‑employment testing.
- Use of OD pepper spray (OC) and animal care projects may expose officers to allergens.
- TB screening required within 60 days of hire.
- Position is union shop.
- Respirator medical evaluation and training required as per WA Industrial Safety Act.
