Overview
We are seeking a Bilingual Spanish Occupational Safety & Health Professional to support Washington’s Agriculture industry. This role focuses on delivering expert training and outreach in both English and Spanish, bridging language gaps, and ensuring that every worker has access to life‑saving safety information.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver bilingual (English/Spanish) training and educational materials for a diverse audience across the state.
- Create and present WISHA 10‑hour training modules for Agriculture and Construction.
- Lead training sessions using hands‑on demonstrations, small‑group discussions, and scenario‑based exercises.
- Audit training courses to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Maintain training databases.
- Design and deliver occupational safety and health trainings for both internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Translate and develop training materials, videos, and online modules in English and Spanish.
- Represent DOSH at community events, safety fairs, radio programs, and multicultural outreach efforts.
- Serve as a Spanish‑language liaison across agency programs and public‑facing events.
- Research and develop new materials based on current regulations (OSHA, WACs, RCWs, ANSI, NIOSH, etc.).
- Utilize multimedia tools like PowerPoint, Storyline, and video editing to enhance training delivery.
- Support website updates with bilingual technical content.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, with ability to pass advanced language proficiency assessments (verbal and written).
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to create visually engaging materials in both languages.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or related field and 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in the same field and 2 years as an Occupational Safety and Health Professional 2 in DOSH.
- OR Master’s degree and 2 years of professional experience.
- OR 4 years of journey‑level experience in safety across government, military, or public health settings.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Experience using SharePoint, Storyline, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience leading complex projects or managing multiple training programs.
Driving is required. You must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license, no recent disqualifying offenses, and may be required to use a personally owned vehicle for travel on state business.
Physical capability to walk through a variety of workplaces, including rough terrain and inclement weather, is essential.
Telework is permitted on occasion, depending on business needs and supervisor approval.
