Based in Wallingford, this full-time Commodity Buyer position offers a salary between £40,000 and £45,000 per annum.

Working 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, you will oversee a portfolio of critical suppliers.

Your core duty involves placing purchase orders and guaranteeing that engines, mechanical parts, composites, and specialist components reach production without delay.

You will monitor delivery schedules, proactively chase late orders, and cultivate robust supplier relationships.

Performance tracking falls within your remit, alongside resolving supply issues through close collaboration with internal teams.

This role suits a procurement professional with strong negotiation skills and a methodical approach to maintaining seamless manufacturing operations.

You will be responsible for managing a group of key suppliers and making sure the parts and materials needed for production are ordered on time and delivered when required.

You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to keep production running smoothly, covering areas such as engines and mechanical parts, composites and specialist components.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Placing purchase orders to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Monitoring supplier deliveries and making sure materials arrive on time.
  • Chasing suppliers when orders are delayed or at risk of being late.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and resolving any issues.
  • Keeping supplier information and purchase orders up to date on the ERP system.
  • Maintaining accurate delivery dates and purchasing information on SAP.
  • Working closely with the Supply Chain and Production teams.
  • Reading and understanding technical drawings and product information.
  • Identifying and solving supply and delivery issues.
  • Supporting the wider team with other duties when required.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in buying, procurement or supply chain, ideally within manufacturing or engineering.
  • Experience working with suppliers and managing purchase orders.
  • Experience using an ERP system, ideally SAP.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and technical information.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Confident and assertive when dealing with suppliers.
  • Good attention to detail and an analytical approach.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A good problem solver who remains calm under pressure.
