** Benhaven School in Wallingford is seeking energetic Paraprofessionals to join our fast-paced team!

Position Info: This is a full-time 35 hour a week non-exempt position.

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:20am-4:20p, year-round position

The Paraprofessional reports directly to the Training Supervisor/Paraprofessional Supervisor. A great candidate must be motivated and have the ability to work with students with autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disorders. Cover Letter and Resume maybe requested at future time.

Responsibilities:

The following duties are assigned to this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Encourage building skills for independence
• Work with students on the autism spectrum and with intellectual disabilities
• Encourage and assist in increasing socialization
• Encourage and assist individuals with the pursuit of vocational opportunities
• Assist and provide opportunities for individuals to participate in recreational activities

Experience and Skill Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• All applicants must consent to DCF/DDS background check, state and federal criminal background checks.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus, but will train the right candidate.
