Overview
Resource Capacity Building VISTA – Connecticut Foodshare. The VISTA position supports food assistance programs (meal centers and food pantries) to build capacity, increase access to food, and enhance funding sources. The position is based out of the Wallingford or Bloomfield office with statewide travel; mileage is reimbursed. Must have own transportation. Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) is preferred but not required.
The VISTA should be a self-starter, organized, able to multi-task, and possess strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Digital media skills and experience with Microsoft Office are important. This role is for someone who has a passion for helping others with dignity and creating a community free of hunger.

The candidate will support food assistance programs to build capacity and enhance the experience of the people served. The VISTA member will document best practices and create training tools that support partners to increase access to food and funding sources. The member will also develop and share tool kits for partners to attract, train, and manage volunteer teams. Ideal candidates have an interest and experience in research and training, and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
