Purchasing Team Leader

CDM Recruitment is working with a well-established engineering and industrial services business to recruit a Purchasing Team Leader on a fixed-term contract until Christmas 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer, Purchasing Coordinator or Procurement professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role within a busy engineering environment.
Leading a small purchasing team, you will be responsible for ensuring materials, equipment and services are sourced efficiently while supporting projects across the business.
Responsibilities
 
* Lead and support a small Purchasing team.
 
* Raise and manage purchase orders for materials, equipment and services.
 
* Expedite supplier orders and ensure on-time delivery.
 
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
 
* Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment.
 
* Work closely with engineering, operations and project teams to meet deadlines.
 
* Resolve purchasing queries and invoice discrepancies.
 
* Maintain purchasing records and ensure compliance with company procedures.
 
* Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and achieve cost savings.
 
* Produce reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The Person
 
* Previous experience within Purchasing, Procurement, Buying or Supply Chain.
 
* Experience with in engineering, manufacturing, industrial services or another technical environment.
 
* Strong organisational and administrative skills.
 
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
 
* Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
 
* Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is desirable but not essential.
What's on Offer
 
* Fixed-term contract until Christmas 2026.
 
* Salary up to £32,000
 
* Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.
 
* Bonus and pension.
