Amtec Staffing has partnered with a premier Commercial General Contractor in Walnut Creek, CA to find an experienced Construction Accountant to support the financial operations of their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established company recognized for its high-quality work across large-scale commercial and industrial projects throughout Northern California.

Position Overview

The Construction Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, reporting, and compliance with company policies and industry standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, executives, and external stakeholders to maintain financial integrity across all construction operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all project accounting functions, including job cost tracking, billing, and cash flow reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and reconcile project budgets with actual costs.
  • Process subcontractor invoices, vendor payments, and ensure compliance with lien releases and contracts.
  • Assist Project Managers with budget forecasting, cost analysis, and change order tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and industry-specific accounting practices.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project files, contracts, and accounting documentation.
  • Collaborate with auditors, leadership, and external stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction cost accounting, billing cycles, and project financials.
  • Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
