Bookkeeper

Description

We are looking for a dependable Bookkeeper to support the daily accounting needs of a small commercial property management company in Walnut Creek, California. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on transactional accounting and takes pride in keeping financial records accurate and current. The position will focus on core bookkeeping activities across payables, receivables, and account reconciliations for a portfolio of commercial properties.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices, assigning accurate expense codes, and preparing payments to vendors.

- Record rent receipts and other tenant-related charges, ensuring account activity is posted correctly and on schedule.

- Maintain complete and up-to-date vendor files, including tax documentation and supporting records.

- Monitor outstanding tenant balances, update ledger details, and assist with follow-up on overdue payments when needed.

- Reconcile bank accounts each month across multiple properties to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.

- Review and balance credit card activity, verifying that all transactions are properly entered and supported.

- Keep organized bookkeeping documentation and accounting records for day-to-day operational use and audit readiness.

- Partner with property management staff to track payments, clarify account activity, and support accurate financial processing.

Requirements - Experience in bookkeeping with strong knowledge of daily accounting transactions.

- Practical background in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliation work.

- Proficiency with Quick Books and the ability to learn or use Yardi effectively.

- Familiarity with bookkeeping processes within commercial property management environments.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy across multiple accounts and records.

- Ability to manage priorities independently in a small team setting.

- Clear communication skills for coordinating with vendors, tenants, and internal property management staff.
