In this role you will participate in and lead the engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities. The focus for this position includes:
- Design and construction activities using methods such as Design‑Bid‑Build and Alternative Conceptual‑Bid‑Build.
- Designing HVAC and plumbing systems for primarily Hyper Scale and Colocation Data Center administration and support spaces.
- Supporting additional areas such as Administrative, Warehouse, Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, Chemical Storage & Handling, Electrical Distribution Center, Low & Medium Voltage Switchgear, Pump Areas, Engine Generator, Blowers/Air Compressors, and Flammable & Combustible Liquids Storage.
- Conducting Data Center airflow CFD modeling for interior and exterior spaces.
- Conducting energy audit/efficiency studies, code review and application, and sustainable design/LEED application of sustainable strategies.
- Developing engineering skills while working on challenging projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Previous experience in Data Center/Mission Critical Design.
- Experience with construction support.
- Understanding of design differences in Hyper‑scale, edge and colocation data centers.
- Familiarity with Data Center tier rating systems.
- Strong knowledge in Autodesk Revit.
- Data Center airflow CFD modeling experience for internal and external evaluations.
- Computer‑generated HVAC cooling and heating loads and HVAC equipment sizing.
- HVAC system energy modeling and energy code.
- Green building initiatives such as LEED.
- Technical submittal reviewing process and bid reviewing process for large‑scale water and air‑cooled chiller plants.
- International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes, ASHRAE Handbooks/Standards, ASPE design handbooks, and SMACNA Standards.
- NFPA Standards.
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously.
- Cadence Reality Data Center Design (Formerly 6
Sigma Room).
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience in engineering work, and a minimum of 5 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (if selected), which may include background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search. Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.
WorkEnvironment and Schedule
- Typical office environment; prolonged periods of sitting and computer use expected.
- Physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
