Responsibilities
Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Technician to join our Water Solutions Group. This role performs specific field tasks assigned by others on projects of moderate complexity. Work will be primarily field based. The ideal candidate presents a positive customer service attitude and understanding of ECS Core Values.
Key Responsibilities- Field sampling of various media while working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Daily communication is required with other ECS technicians and project managers and as directed, site representatives.
- Attend and participate in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
- May be involved with calculations and data reduction of test results, drafting and other administrative duties, as required.
- You are expected to display the ability to calibrate and use field equipment and document readings appropriately.
- Incidental duties include office clerical tasks, report production assistance and other office related tasks.
- Support pilot tests, treatability studies, and system startups.
- Perform installation and commissioning of treatment systems and related remediation equipment.
- Communicate changing site conditions to supervisor and discuss their implications on field investigations. Determine the appropriate modifications to investigation, discuss them with your supervisor and implement them in the field.
- You may be expected to train and mentor other ECS technicians.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 4 years of related experience.
- If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites – Mileage will be reimbursed.
- Maintain OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Good knowledge of environmental principles, applications, and testing standards.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds a number of times each day and walk on uneven ground through various terrains.
- Ability to complete daily field reports detailing site activities and observations with directions and training provided.
- Basic understanding of advanced in-situ and ex-situ remediation technologies (e.g., bioremediation, chemical oxidation/reduction, PFAS treatment).
- Limited understanding of hydrogeologic and chemical processes governing contaminant behavior.
The expected pay range for this role and location is $30-$40/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
