Our Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts without overlap, strengthening pharmacy performance through coaching and follow‑up.
  • Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the team in compassionate care and resolving insurance or medication issues.
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, engaging Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
  • Support inventory management by coaching the pharmacy team on best practices, especially for cold‑chain products.
  • Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating concerns as needed.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, supporting the Pharmacy Manager in scheduling as directed.
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge.
  • Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles and CVS Health policies, especially regarding controlled substances, privacy and security.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

    • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.

    • Use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets, day's supply, or number of bottles needed.
  • Issue Resolution
    • Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
  • Physical Demands
    • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
    • Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead and stretch as needed.
