The purpose of this job is to repair musical string instruments in a timely and proficient manner so that the instrument is returned in good playing order. A technician can specialize in one type of instrument, or work on multiple types.
Responsibilities- Repair rental returned instruments efficiently and timely.
- Ensure each instrument is repaired according to established quality guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records for production reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Music & Arts began in a small house in Bethesda, MD in 1952 and has grown into a nationwide retail brand offering music, lessons, and instruments. Based in Frederick, MD, we are part of the Guitar Center enterprise with 200+ retail stores, 120+ educational representatives, and 300+ affiliate locations.
Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma or GED.
- Apprenticeship or diploma from an accredited repair school.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English.
- Ability to use standard repair shop tooling and equipment.
- Two years of relevant work experience repairing musical instruments daily.
- Skilled understanding and function of at least one or all brass, woodwind, percussion, and orchestral instruments, with ability to repair them efficiently.
- Four years of relevant work experience repairing musical instruments daily.
- Advanced understanding of at least one or all brass, woodwind, percussion, and orchestral instruments with efficient repair skills.
- Goal oriented.
- Ability to produce quality repairs efficiently.
- Open to advice and supervision from the shop manager.
- Problem solving and technical skills for diagnosing and repairing instruments.
- Self‑motivated and can work independently.
- Team player in a close environment.

Pay Rate: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour plus commission depending on location, background, and experience.
