Are you an experienced mortgage professional with a heart for service and a sharp eye for compliance? Walpole Co-operative Bank is seeking a Vice President, Residential Mortgage / CRA Officer to lead our residential lending operations and community reinvestment initiatives.

In this leadership role, you’ll guide our mortgage lending team, ensure regulatory compliance, and actively support community development through effective CRA strategy and outreach.
What You’ll DoAs the VP, Residential Mortgage / CRA Officer, you will oversee the end‑to‑end residential mortgage function—from origination and underwriting through secondary market sales—while also championing the Bank’s CRA programs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day‑to‑day operations of mortgage origination and underwriting
- Hiring, coaching, and developing a high‑performing residential lending team
- Originating and underwriting residential loans in compliance with consumer lending regulations
- Maintaining knowledge of and ensuring adherence to all mortgage‑related policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory changes
- Overseeing the Bank’s participation in the secondary mortgage market, including program selection, packaging, and investor compliance
- Serving as a leader for CRA activities, including community outreach, education, and financial literacy programs
- Representing the Bank at civic and community events, first‑time homebuyer seminars, and CRA‑related initiatives
- Driving residential loan growth through strong referral networks and business development activity
- Collaborating cross‑functionally to ensure mortgage systems and vendor relationships support compliance and operational efficiency
- Participating in audits and regulatory examinations, and maintaining internal policy documentation
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5–7 years of residential mortgage origination and underwriting experience
- 2–5 years of leadership experience managing lending staff
- In‑depth knowledge of FHLMC guidelines, secondary market practices, and applicable federal/state lending regulations
- Experience with Finastra Mortgage bot and Doc Magic preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer‑first mindset
- Ability to lead, mentor, and hold others accountable in a collaborative team environment
- Excellent attention to detail and judgment in navigating regulatory and operational matters
- Strong time management, process improvement, and problem‑solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with banking systems and technologies
- Active participation in the community, with a passion for equitable access to financial services
- This role requires registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)

This role offers a competitive pay range of $99,249.15 - $ per year, based on experience, qualifications, and market data.
