Academy Trained Officer

Walpole PD:
Full-Time Certified MPTC Academy Trained Officer

• Academy/Certification: Must have successfully completed a full-time MPTC Police Academy,
  and be POST Certified;
• Residency: In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, candidate must establish residency within 15 miles of the limits of the Town of Walpole within one year from the date of appointment.
• Education: Must have an Associate's Degree,
  or
  • Attained an equivalent number of credits toward a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university, or
  • Possess a High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent and have achieved Veteran's status with the United States Armed Forces as defined by Massachusetts General Law.
• Non-Smoker: Must be a non-smoker of tobacco products under M.G.L. Chapter 41, Section 101A, and remain a non-smoker.
• Background: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
• Character: No person who has been convicted of a felony shall be appointed as a police officer.

Must have the ability to:

• Pass a medical and psychological exam.
• Pass an oral interview prior to appointment.
• Perform the duties of a Walpole Police Officer.

Annual Salary Range:

• $60,216 - $80,430 (FY26) + Generous Benefits Package

Other Compensation:

• Educational Incentive Program: Officers with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university qualify for incentives. Additional incentives are available for certain qualified Master’s degree programs.
