Position: Medical Receptionist / Administrator
Location: Aldridge

Main

duties of the job
  • Answer the telephone promptly and deal with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Cover the front reception desk and deal with patients face‑to‑face.
  • Book, cancel, and amend patient appointments using EMIS.
  • Have an overview of the demands and workflow of the practice during the working day.
  • Maintain a good rapport with internal and external staff.
  • Keep the waiting area / reception front desk tidy and ensure forms and patient information are stocked up where possible.
  • Effectively signpost patients to appropriate services.
  • Process and request repeat prescriptions through EMIS.
  • Liaise with clinicians for patient queries.
  • Work in a team of receptionists to cover duties.
  • Scanning & filing post.
  • Patient registrations.
  • Flexible to cover reception or admin.
Working Hours
  • Hours will be 24.5 per week:
  • Monday: 08:00am – 02:00pm
  • Tuesday: 09:00am – 01:00pm
  • Thursday: 08:00 – 01:00pm
  • Friday: 08:00am – 06:00pm (30-minute break)

Qualifications
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • The ability to exercise judgement when dealing with patient enquiries/problems.
  • Knowledge of EMIS web clinical system or another similar clinical system.
  • Ability to manage own workload and act independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitivity and empathy with people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • The ability to work to a professional standard.
We are looking for someone who has
  • Previous receptionist/administration experience in a similar setting and ideally general practice.
Experience
  • Knowledge of Emis web clinical or another similar clinical system.
