Assistant Assurance Officer

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of an Assistant Assurance Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion.

£14.32 - £18.15 per hour

The Assistant Assurance Officer role will involve reviewing, redacting and preparing records for quality checking prior to disclosure. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of data protection legislation, particularly in relation to Subject Access Requests and Freedom of Information, and be able to apply appropriate exemptions and red actions.

• Assist with clearing the backlog of SAR and FOI requests.
• Review records and information in response to requests.
• Apply appropriate red actions and exemptions in line with data protection and FOI requirements.
• Prepare records for quality checking prior to disclosure.
• Support the wider team in managing demand for FOI responses.
• Manage and respond to FOI requests effectively and within relevant requirements.

• Experience working with Subject Access Requests and/or Freedom of Information requests.
• Good understanding of data protection requirements relating to SAR and FOI.
• Experience applying appropriate exemptions and red actions.
• Experience managing and responding to FOI requests is highly desirable.
• Experience using Nitro Pro or Copilot would be beneficial.
