At Ryecroft School , we’re seeking a Receptionist & Administration Assistant to join our dedicated team. As the first person pupils, families, visitors and professionals see when they contact or visit the school, you’ll play a key role in creating a warm, professional and supportive environment for everyone who walks through our doors.
This is far more than a receptionist role. You’ll be at the centre of school life, helping to keep our operations running smoothly while supporting a specialist setting that empowers young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and additional complex needs to achieve their very best.

What You’ll Be Doing
Providing a professional and friendly welcome to visitors, parents, carers and external professionals.
Acting as the first point of contact for telephone, email and reception enquiries.
Supporting safeguarding and visitor management procedures to ensure a safe school environment.
Maintaining accurate pupil records, registers, school databases and administrative systems.
Assisting with attendance monitoring and communicating with families regarding absences.
Managing correspondence, filing, data entry and document preparation. Coordinating post, deliveries, stationery supplies and general office resources.
Providing administrative support to the Office Manager and wider school team.
Helping ensure the school office remains organised, efficient and welcoming.
What you will bring
- Previous experience in an administration, reception or office-based role.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and maintain accuracy in a busy environment.
- A positive, proactive approach and a willingness to support colleagues across the school.
- A high level of discretion, professionalism and understanding of confidentiality.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Empathy, patience and a genuine desire to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.

Ryecroft School has capacity for 60 pupils, opened in September 2024 and caters for pupils with Autism and complex needs.
The school is located in Walsall. Walsall is a market town in the West Midlands County. It is located 9 miles north-west of Birmingham, 7 miles east of Wolverhampton and 9 miles from Lichfield.
