Hours:
37 hours per week (7.4 hours per day, Monday to Friday) Pay Rate: £15.07 per hour [PAYE] Blackburn with Darwen Council is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administrator to support the Electoral Services team during busy electoral periods. This role is ideal for individuals with strong administrative skills who can work accurately under pressure and maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Process electoral registration applications and updates in line with electoral legislation and procedures. Assist with the maintenance of the Electoral Register and related records. Respond to enquiries from members of the public by telephone, email, and in person. Support the administration of local, regional, and national elections and referendums. Prepare and process election documentation, poll cards, postal vote packs, and correspondence.
Undertake data entry, document scanning, filing, and records management activities. Assist with printing, packing, and dispatching election materials. Support canvassing activities and electoral registration campaigns as required. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data protection requirements. Perform general administrative duties to support the Electoral Services team. Person Specification
Essential Criteria Previous administrative experience in an office environment. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Flexibility to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, during peak election periods.
Desirable Criteria Experience working within local government or Electoral Services. Knowledge of electoral registration and election processes.
