THE ROLE
As Workshop Controller, you'll take responsibility for coordinating the day-to-day workflow of a busy accident repair centre, ensuring vehicles progress efficiently through every stage of the repair process.
You'll work closely with Bodyshop Management, Vehicle Damage Assessors, Estimators and skilled technicians to allocate work effectively, monitor repair progress and ensure productivity, quality and completion targets are consistently achieved.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, control and coordinate the daily workload across the bodyshop and workshop.
- Allocate repair work effectively to Panel Beaters, MET Technicians, Paint Sprayers and other bodyshop team members based on skills, workload and capacity.
- Monitor vehicle progress throughout the repair process, identifying and resolving delays to maintain agreed completion dates.
- Work closely with Bodyshop Managers, VDAs and Estimators to ensure repair plans, parts requirements and job priorities are clearly communicated.
- Support and motivate technicians to achieve productivity, efficiency and quality targets.
- Help drive workshop performance and maximise productive hours sold and completed.
- Ensure repairs are completed in accordance with manufacturer repair methods, company procedures and required quality standards.
- Carry out or coordinate quality checks to ensure repairs are completed correctly before vehicles progress to the next stage or final handover.
- Maintain clear communication across the workshop to create an efficient, organised and productive working environment.
ABOUT YOU
We're looking for an experienced and highly organised automotive professional who can confidently manage a busy workshop, coordinate multiple repairs and support technicians within a fast-paced accident repair environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Bodyshop Controller or in a similar supervisory role within an automotive accident repair centre.
- Strong understanding of the complete vehicle accident repair process, including MET, panel, preparation, paint and final quality control.
- Excellent workshop planning, workflow management and organisational skills.
- The ability to allocate work effectively and manage multiple vehicle repairs and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to support, motivate and coordinate a team of skilled technicians.
- A good understanding of manufacturer repair methods, bodyshop quality standards and health and safety requirements.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to productivity, efficiency and first-time quality.
- A Full UK Driving Licence.
