Family Time Worker

About the Role

We’re looking for a caring and reliable Family Time Worker to join a supportive Children’s Services team on a part‑time, fixed‑term basis to cover maternity leave. This role involves supervising family contact sessions for children in care, ensuring these sessions are safe, positive, and focused on the child’s well‑being.

You’ll observe and record what happens during contact, support parents to engage positively with their children, and liaise with social workers and other professionals involved in each child’s care plan.

• Supervise and observe family time sessions between children and their families.
• Ensure a safe, structured, and child‑centred environment.
• Record detailed and factual observations for assessment purposes.
• Provide advice and guidance to parents during contact sessions.
• Transport children to and from family time sessions (car driver essential).
• Liaise professionally with social workers and other agencies involved in each case.

• Previous experience as a Family Time Worker, Contact Supervisor, or similar.
• Understanding of child development and parenting support.
• Supportive, empathetic, and professional approach.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible to work some evenings (before 8pm) and occasional Saturdays.
• Car driver with access to own vehicle (essential).

• Monday – Thursday: 2 : 00 pm – 6 : 00 pm (some flexibility with finish times).
• Occasional Saturdays (1–2 per month, flexible).
