1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant Primary School Walsall
Are you passionate about supporting individual children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEND in a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school on a long‑term basis.
Location: Birmingham and Surrounding Areas
Position: 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant
Type of Work: One‑to‑one support for a child with SEND within a mainstream primary classroom
Start Date: ASAP – September
Duration: Ongoing
Contract: Long-term (potential to go permanent)
Hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with specific SEND needs (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties)
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
- Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit the child’s individual needs
- Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development
- Maintain accurate records of progress and share feedback with the wider team
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
- Experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting (essential)
- Experience in a 1:1 role or similar (preferred)
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in education or childcare (essential)
- Calm, compassionate and proactive in supporting additional needs
- Effective communication with colleagues, children and families
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
- Valid, enhanced child barred list DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two child‑related professional references covering the last two years
