About the Federation
Short Heath Federation offers a unique opportunity for a very special kind of teaching assistant to work in a single phase school, alongside colleagues from other phases to enhance professional development. The Federation is the West Walsall Nurture Hub, leading in Restorative Practice and a Learning Hub for the Attachment Research Community, collaborating on Autism Education Trust training and developing specialist learning provisions for children with specific additional needs.
Role OverviewPosition: Level 3 Teaching Assistant
Hours: 32½ hours a week (Term Time Only)
Grade: G5 – £27,711 – £30,060 (Pro‑Rate to hours worked)
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children with complex additional needs in specialist provisions.
- Encourage and motivate children to enjoy learning and make good progress.
- Promote independence and support children to become independent learners.
- Collaborate with teachers and specialist practitioners across all phases.
- Apply attachment‑aware and trauma‑informed approaches in everyday practice.
- Enjoy motivating and exciting children about learning.
- Have working knowledge and experience with children with ADHD, Autism and other SEN needs.
- Experience of working in an attachment‑aware and trauma‑informed way.
- Love working as part of a team.
- Able to use own initiative and think creatively.
- Able to support children to be independent learners.
- Keen to develop themselves and others.
- Imaginative, energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking.
- Nurture and encourage children to fulfil their potential.
