GSL Education are hiring a committed
SEMH Teaching Assistant to join schools in Walsall
. The Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them succeed in a structured and nurturing educational environment.

Main Duties of SEMH TA
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Support behaviour management and implement de-escalation strategies.
  • Encourage emotional regulation, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
  • Assist students in engaging with classroom activities and routines.
  • Maintain safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe environment.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
