Job Overview
Queen Mary's Grammar School, Walsall, is seeking an enthusiastic Spanish Foreign Language Assistant to join the Modern Foreign Languages department. The role supports teaching Spanish conversation for Years 12 and 13 and assists with spoken language examinations at GCSE and A Level.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Spanish conversation lessons with Year 12 and 13 students, scheduling sessions before school, during break or lunch to accommodate pupils’ free lessons.
- Keep up to date with developments in exam board specifications, especially speaking examinations, and with the Spanish A Level mark scheme to guide student preparation.
- Provide suitable materials for developing pupils’ skills, including stimulus cards and independent research projects sourced from AQA, Kerboodle and other relevant resources.
- Offer written feedback on the progress of all pupils you work with.
- Attend training sessions offered by the Modern Foreign Languages department to maintain knowledge of speaking examination requirements.
- Maintain attendance records and report absences from lessons.
- Keep a file of materials used and produce copies for the department at the Head of Department’s request.
- Assist teaching staff with preparation of Years 10 and 11 students for their GCSE Spanish oral examination during scheduled lessons.
- Teach and deliver sessions at Queen Mary's High School as required.
- Fluent in Spanish and knowledgeable about current affairs in Spain.
- Experience supporting students in building confidence in oral skills.
- Understanding of speaking examination formats, particularly AQA GCSE and Advanced Level.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage lesson planning and records.

SalaryNJC 39, £26.06 per hour plus holiday pay.
