Shepwell Short Stay School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and potential of every pupil. We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team and support our young people in achieving positive educational and personal outcomes to be based at our exciting new satellite provision at Shelfield Academy.
Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will provide high-quality classroom and pastoral support, helping pupils to engage in learning, develop confidence and build the skills they need to succeed. You will work across a range of curriculum areas, supporting both academic progress and the social and emotional development of our students.
The successful candidate will play an active role in creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every young person feels valued and supported. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of learning activities, adapt resources to meet individual needs and help students overcome barriers to learning.
Shepwell School now operates across two sites, including a satellite provision based at Shelfield Ormiston Academy for up to 30 pupils. The successful candidate will be primarily based at the satellite provision; however, there may be occasions when they are required to work at the main Shepwell School site to support operational needs of the school and its students.
The candidate will be expected to supervise pupils during lunchtimes and so will have lunch at a different time to the other team.
Qualifications and Skills- Knowledge and understanding of neurodiversity, including autism, ADHD and the mental health challenges faced by young people.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them overcome barriers to education.
- The ability to build positive, trusting and respectful relationships with young people.
- Experience of supporting pupils with a range of learning, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Confidence in adapting learning activities and using a variety of strategies to engage and motivate learners.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, working effectively with teachers, families and external agencies.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities within a busy school environment.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach, particularly when supporting pupils experiencing emotional distress or dysregulation.
- A commitment to promoting positive behaviour, inclusion and high aspirations for every student.
- Competence in using ICT to support learning and administrative tasks, with a willingness to develop new skills where required.
- A willingness to contribute to wider school life and to go above and beyond in supporting the success and wellbeing of our students.
