Skills Coach – Supported Internship Programme

Full time (37.5 hours per week) based in the Black Country. The role is central to delivering the Mencap Training Academy, supporting learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities to complete all elements of the programme, including targeted employability, English and maths learning.

• Accountable for learner progression and ensuring young adults achieve the skills needed for paid employment.
• Deliver support through 1‑1 job coaching, classroom instruction, and workplace integration.
• Help students develop employability skills and embed English and Maths learning.
• Support learners to secure and sustain paid employment.

• Experience of supporting people with learning difficulties.
• Experience of delivering against targets.
• Knowledge of safe working practices and the sector.
• A‑C/9‑4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent).
• Good ICT skills.
• Effective communication and record‑keeping/reporting.

All candidates will need to provide evidence of their GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at interview stage.
