Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Smile Education are delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Walsall area, who are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their support team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education and supporting young people to achieve their full potential. The role is initially offered on a long-term temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students across the school, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence, and make positive progress both academically and personally.

Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students within lessons on a 1:1, small group, and whole-class basis
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Encouraging student engagement and participation in learning
  • Providing additional support to students who may require extra guidance
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping to create a safe learning environment
  • Supporting students' social, emotional, and academic development
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff across the school
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people in any capacity
  • Are passionate about supporting students and making a positive impact
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are patient, resilient, and adaptable
  • Can build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Work well independently and as part of a team
  • Have experience in education, youth work, coaching, care, mentoring, or support work (desirable but not essential)
