Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Walsall that is committed to ensuring every child feels supported, valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential. We are looking to appoint an experienced and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 4 with Autism and Global Developmental Delay.
The child is currently working at an EYFS/Key Stage 1 level and has an EHCP in place. This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and patient Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting children with additional needs on a one-to-one basis.
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will play a key role in helping the child access learning, develop independence and make progress against their individual targets.
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Autism and Global Developmental Delay.
- Supporting learning activities that are tailored to the child's individual needs and abilities.
- Implementing strategies and targets outlined within the EHCP.
- Encouraging communication, social development and independence.
- Supporting the child's emotional wellbeing and engagement within the classroom.
- Liaising regularly with the SENCO, class teacher and other professionals involved in the child's support.
- Monitoring progress and contributing to reviews and support plans.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or a relevant EYFS qualification.
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN on a 1:1 basis.
- Strong understanding of Autism and supporting children with complex learning needs.
- Experience supporting children working significantly below age-related expectations.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and how to implement targeted support strategies.
- A nurturing, patient and flexible approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
