Sen Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Walsall. This is a full time position starting in September 2026, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher and SEND team to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs.

Your responsibilities will include providing one to one support, assisting with small group activities, encouraging positive engagement in lessons, and helping pupils develop their confidence, independence, and social skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children and wants to make a genuine difference to their educational development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to pupils with Special Educational Needs throughout the school day

• Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning activities

• Provide one to one and small group support tailored to individual needs

• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, confidence, and communication

• Adapt classroom resources and activities where appropriate

• Support pupils with their emotional wellbeing and social development

• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff

• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

• Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is caring, patient, reliable, and passionate about helping children succeed.

• A degree, be in their final year of university, or have relevant experience working with children or young people

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable but not essential

• A patient, understanding, and resilient approach

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues

• A genuine passion for helping children develop their confidence and independence

• A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting pupils and the wider school team

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is previous experience working in a school setting.
