We are recruiting for a Speech & Language Therapist to join a successful specialist school in Walsall, supporting pupils aged 7-18 with EHCPs.
The school caters primarily for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, alongside additional needs including autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and behavioural needs
. Pupils are taught in small classes with support from teachers and teaching assistants.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support pupils' communication and language development.
Key responsibilities:- Assess pupils and identify speech, language and communication needs
- Deliver one-to-one and group therapy
- Complete clinical reports and recommendations
- Contribute to EHCPs and annual reviews
- Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants and other professionals
- Support pupils within the classroom and wider school environment
- Qualified Speech & Language Therapist with HCPC registration
- Newly qualified candidates are welcome to apply
- Ideally operating at Band 6 level, or an experienced Band 5
- Previous SEN or specialist education experience is desirable but not essential
- Strong interest in working with children and young people with complex needs
- Makaton knowledge is advantageous but not essential
- Must hold, or be willing to obtain, appropriate DBS clearance
- Permanent, term-time-only position
- Monday-Friday working pattern
