SEN Teacher opportunities are available now with Flourish Education, working at a specialist provision in Walsall supporting students with severe learning difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity to teach small groups in a setting built around the needs of the individual, with a strong staff team and specialist support around you.
Our partnership school is seeking a patient and adaptable SEN Teacher to plan and deliver a curriculum pitched to each student's stage of development rather than their age. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and families, and track progress against the outcomes set out in each student's EHCP.
Day to day you will take full responsibility for your class, including planning, preparation, assessment and recording progress, often in small steps and over longer timescales than in a mainstream setting. Communication is at the heart of the role, and you will use the school's chosen approaches to make sure every student can access the lesson.
This role is full-time, Monday to Friday, and is to start as soon as possible and continue to the end of the academic year.
Required Skills and Experience as a SEN Teacher:- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), also suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs)
- Experience teaching students with severe learning difficulties (SLD), or with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)
- Confidence planning and delivering a pre-formal or semi-formal curriculum and adapting it to each student's stage
- A working knowledge of EHCPs and how to plan, evidence and report against the outcomes within them
- Familiarity with alternative and augmentative communication such as Makaton, PECS or symbol-based systems
- Positive handling training such as Team Teach is an advantage, although training can be provided
- The patience and consistency to build trust with students who communicate in different ways
- Pay: £174.71 to £240.72 day rate which equates to £34,069 per annum to £46,940 per annum based on working 5 days a week for a full school year (dependent on experience)
- Holiday Pay - 12.07% of your day rate is accrued into your holiday pot
- Pension Contributions
- Free KCSIE compliant Safeguarding and Prevent Duty Training inclusive of modules relating to legislation, FGM and abuse
- Refer a friend bonus scheme
- Regular contact throughout the registration process and once you are at work.
