The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering projects across water, transport, energy and the built environment sectors.
With project values ranging from £200k to £10m+, this role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of works including framework agreements, joint ventures and standalone schemes. You will play a key role in driving commercial performance, ensuring contractual compliance, and maximising value while mitigating risk.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS looking to progress within a secure, long-term infrastructure environment.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will provide full commercial support to project teams, ensuring accurate reporting, effective cost management and strong stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
Accurate monthly CVR reporting and forecasting
Cash flow management and earned value analysis
Subcontract procurement, negotiation and administration
Agreement of variations, claims and additional payments
Preparing and submitting applications for payment
Commercial risk identification and mitigation
Supporting operational teams with cost control and resource challenges
Ensuring NEC / ICE contractual compliance
You will work closely with Commercial Managers, site teams, bid managers and supply chain partners to ensure strong commercial governance across projects.
About You
Essential:
HND/Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
Proven experience in the construction or civil engineering sector
Strong knowledge of NEC (essential) and ICE contracts
Experience in subcontract procurement and commercial management
Solid understanding of cost reporting, forecasting and earned value
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Excellent communication and organisational ability
Desirable:
RICS membership (or working towards)
Water sector experience
CSCS card
