At Babcock, we are creating a safe and secure world together. In this role you will help protect lives and shape the future from our Vehicle Engineering site in Walsall.

As a Project Engineering Manager you will lead the multidisciplinary technical design and delivery of complex engineering projects across their full lifecycle, from concept through to in‑service support and disposal. This role offers the chance to combine hands‑on engineering expertise with people leadership; you will manage and develop a team of engineers, act as the technical authority for your projects, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.

• Leading and managing the engineering function across allocated projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality requirements.
• Acting as the technical point of contact for internal teams, customers and suppliers.
• Ensuring engineering compliance with legal, regulatory and safety requirements.
• Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers to build capability and performance.
• Identifying and managing technical risks, dependencies and design trade‑offs.

The role is based onsite at Walsall, with set working times Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.

• System level engineering experience with vehicle integration.
• Defining requirements, specifications and system architecture.
• Designing for manufacturability, cost, weight and reliability.
• Understanding testing, validation and homologation processes.
• Proven team and people management experience.

• Problem‑solving and root cause analysis (8D, A3, Ishikawa, 5‑Why).
• Knowledge of automotive systems – powertrain, chassis, body, E/E, ADAS, thermal or interiors.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAE tools and engineering documentation.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
