Mechanical Applications Engineer Ripley, Derbyshire £30,000 - £50,000 DOE  Bonus  Private Healthcare  5% Matched Pension Permanent | Full-Time | Office Based Preferred Are you a mechanically biased engineer who enjoys the technical side of developing solutions, but also likes working with customers and seeing projects through from initial enquiry? Recruit 2 You are working with an established and growing engineering business looking to recruit a Mechanical Applications Engineer to join its Sales and Engineering team.

This is a varied role sitting between engineering and technical sales, where you'll take customer requirements and help turn them into practical, commercially viable engineered solutions. You'll be involved from initial enquiry and concept development through to costing, technical proposals and contract award, working on bespoke equipment for customers across the Energy and Process sectors. What you'll be doing As Mechanical Applications Engineer, you will:
Review customer specifications, drawings and technical requirements Develop concept designs and preliminary engineering solutions Carry out mechanical engineering calculations to support proposals Prepare technical documentation, sketches and specifications for costing Support proposals for bespoke equipment including pressure equipment, heat exchangers, piping systems, structural frames, filtration systems, modular skids and noise control equipment Liaise with suppliers to obtain technical information and pricing Coordinate internal and external cost estimates Produce bid cost sheets and detailed technical proposals Identify alternative engineering solutions where appropriate Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Project, Quality and Supply Chain teams Provide technical support to both internal teams and customers Attend customer meetings within the UK and occasionally overseas Support product development and continuous improvement activities What we're looking for We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in Applications Engineering, Proposals Engineering, Technical Sales or a mechanically focused engineering role involving customer specifications and technical solutions.

You'll ideally have:
At least 2 years' experience within Applications Engineering, Technical Sales or a similar engineering position A strong understanding of general mechanical engineering principles Knowledge of Applied Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Mass/Heat Balance calculations Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and technical standards Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills Experience preparing technical proposals, quotations, costings or concept solutions Good commercial awareness and the ability to communicate confidently with customers and suppliers An Engineering qualification to HND level or equivalent as a minimum A full UK/EU driving licence The ability to travel overseas when required A relevant Engineering Degree would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Experience with in any of the following would also be particularly beneficial:
Gas Turbines | Power Generation | Carbon Capture | Hydrogen | Industrial Energy Recovery | Waste-to-X | Renewable Heating | Power Grid | Water Treatment | Nuclear

Experience with fabricated or integrated mechanical equipment, structural engineering principles and UK, European or US design codes would also be advantageous.
