Job overviewThe Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Failsafe Officer will be responsible for providing a specialist administrative (data collection and analysis) service that supports the antenatal and newborn screening team in the collation and entry of data for the National Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes.

Antenatal & Newborn screening fail safe officer Band 3
The Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Failsafe Officer will be responsible for providing a specialist administrative (data collection and analysis) service that supports the antenatal and newborn screening team in the collation and entry of data for the National Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes, that include:
- Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening (SCAT)
- Screening for Infections
- Down’s Syndrome, Edward’s Syndrome and Patau’s Syndrome screening
- Fetal Anomaly Screening (FASP)
- Newborn Infant Physical Examination (NIPE)
- Newborn Bloodspot Screening (NBBS)
The Failsafe Officer will develop and maintain systems and failsafe processes to ensure that all eligible mothers and babies are offered and complete the relevant screening pathways and to timely identify any potential breaches and action these appropriately to prevent any missed screening opportunities.
