Temporary, 3 Months with potential to extend. Potential for Permanent Opportunities to become available while on temporary placement

ASAP Opus People Solutions are pleased to be recruiting for 2 Markets Operatives on behalf of Walsall Council. This is an excellent opportunity for hardworking and reliable individuals to join the Markets Team, supporting the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and presentation of markets across the borough. This role involves a variety of outdoor, hands-on duties and requires candidates who are comfortable undertaking physical work in all weather conditions.

Working Hours - Split shifts. Part-time hours - unpaid lunch Working days:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Early starts, typically between 4:00am and 6:00am Wednesday shifts generally begin between 4:00am and 5:00am, finishing on site between 4:00pm and 5:00pm (subject to operational requirements) Approximately 6 to 7 hours per day Weekly rotas will be provided directly by Walsall Council

• Setting up and dismantling market stalls
• Moving and positioning bins across market sites
• Litter picking and maintaining clean market environments
• Engaging professionally with market traders and members of the public
• Reporting issues and updates to the Team Leader and Market Operational Manager
• Spreading grit and rock salt during icy weather conditions
• Supporting the upkeep of market infrastructure
• Cleaning stalls, bins, compounds and communal areas
• Carrying out basic weeding and general site maintenance
• Assisting with the smooth operation of market activities

• Previous experience undertaking manual or physical work
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and temperatures
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Access to your own vehicle for travel between sites
• Business insurance for use of your own vehicle during work-related travel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Confidence when engaging with traders and members of the public
• Ability to represent Walsall Council professionally
• Ability to use basic hand tools and equipment
• Reliable, flexible and willing to undertake early morning starts

Applicants must be aged 18 years or over Candidates must be able to reliably travel to site locations

References will be required before employment can commence
