Buyer, Manufacturing ​/ Production

Owen Daniels are supporting a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Walsall, is looking to recruit an experienced Buyer to join their procurement team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Buyer with a manufacturing background who enjoys building supplier relationships, negotiating costs, and ensuring materials are available to support production. Experience with in the electronics sector would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other manufacturing environments will also be considered.

The Role:

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing materials and components, managing supplier performance, and ensuring stock is available to meet production schedules.

• Procuring raw materials, components and services in line with production requirements.
• Raising and managing purchase orders through the ERP/MRP system.
• Negotiating pricing, lead times and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
• Monitoring supplier performance relating to quality, cost and delivery.
• Working closely with Production, Planning and Engineering teams to ensure material availability.
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Resolving supply chain issues to minimise disruption to manufacturing operations.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing records and supplier information.

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience working as a Buyer within a manufacturing environment.
• Electronics manufacturing or electronic components purchasing experience would be highly desirable.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach with strong commercial awareness.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Salary up to £37,000 depending on experience.
