Press Toolmaker

Press Toolmaker — Brownhills, WS8. Salary £35,000 to £42,000 per annum. Monday to Thursday, 39 hours (7:30am–5:45pm). Overtime available.

You'll be part of a skilled toolroom team, building, maintaining and repairing press tools, including single‑operation, progression and transfer tooling. You will support production by ensuring tools are set up correctly, fault‑free and ready for operational use.

• Manufacture, assemble and fit press tools to tight tolerances.
• Carry out tool maintenance, fault‑finding, repairs and modifications.
• Use manual machining (milling, turning, grinding).
• Work from engineering drawings made in CAD (VISI).
• Use precision measuring equipment to verify tool accuracy.
• Conduct trial runs to ensure correct tool performance.
• Liaise with production and design teams when improvements are needed.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and contribute to a clean, organised toolroom.

• Strong background in press toolmaking.
• Experience working with heavy tools.
• Skilled in manual machining – milling, turning, surface grinding, bench fitting.
• Proven experience working with VISICAM.
• Ability to diagnose tooling issues quickly and apply effective solutions.
• Confident reading engineering drawings and working to fine tolerances.

• Overtime rates:
  • Friday – paid at time and 1/4.
  • Saturday – paid at time and 1/3.
  • Sunday – paid at time and a half.
